Multiplication of Arithmetic signs

How to multiply the addition sign (+) with the minus sign (-)

  • To multiply the signs you need to keep this at the back of your mind that 
  1. - Same signs multiply to give positive or addition sign (+)
  2. - different signs multiply to give the product of negative or minus sign (-)

  • This;
  • - × - = +        eg. -2 × (-2) = +2
  • + × + = +      eg. +2 × (+2) = +2
  • + × - = -        eg. +2 × (-2) = -2
  • - × + = -        eg. -2 × (+2) = -2
